Love of coffee. Love of people. These two elements drove the birth of The Backyard Beanery!
In 2006, I started home roasting coffee in my backyard in a tiny mountain town in southern California. As my love for roasting and experiencing top quality coffees from around the world grew, so did my desire to pass that joy on to others. In 2018, after our family made a cross country move to Maineville, Ohio, it was the perfect time for roasting to become more than just a hobby. The Backyard Beanery was born!
We are a home-based family business. Everyone in our family plays a part. I do the roasting, Jared is the technology wizard, and our three boys help out by weighing and packing beans whenever they get the chance!
We believe something as simple as morning coffee can make an impact on the world. Because our beans are carefully sourced from small farms around the world, coffee farmers can support their families and be sustainable. The green coffee importers we work with are continually investing resources in and training the farmers they work with and their surrounding communities. Also, a portion of our bean sales goes toward sponsoring orphans and vulnerable children around the world through Back2Back Ministries. Every cup counts!
